To uplift and spotlight Hip Hop dance as a tool for positively impacting mental health and well-being. The project strives to bring awareness to the art form's impact on agency and well-being in St. Louis, MO, and contribute to national and global conversations about the culture and reflection surrounding Hip Hop dance.
Not only has Kyla been a mentee of Tyrus for several years, but they both share a deep passion for expanding beyond that which previously existed. Both desire to uplift and highlight the art form that has altered the course of their life, in hopes that they can share quantitative and qualitative data that demonstrates the unmistakable positive impact of Hip Hop dance on whoever decides to undertake this art form, in whichever form they do.

As far as we have seen, the closest research being done is in the realm of exploring improvisation in Hip Hop, Jazz, and college spaces, and dance interventions from other styles across various populations. This would be a first in our region, and beyond to pursue a research question such as this and author a paper that may fill a gap that currently exists in modern day research.
